Vedomosti: Ibuprofen in the form of suppositories disappeared from Moscow pharmacies

Ibuprofen in the form of suppositories (candles), which is included in the list of essential drugs, has disappeared from pharmacies in Moscow. The newspaper reported Vedomosti with reference to the data of the websites of large pharmacy chains, aggregators and drug discovery services.

According to the publication, ibuprofen in the form of suppositories is not available in the Zdravcity and Eapteke aggregators. The medicine also cannot be bought at Melodiya Zdorovya, Pharmacy Chain 36.6, Rigla, Be Healthy, Doctor Stoletov and Ozerki Pharmacy pharmacies. According to the search engine “Aptecamos”, this form of iboprofen can be found in one pharmacy in the Moscow region.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade, citing data from the Chestny Znak labeling system, told Vedomosti that by January 8, Russian pharmacies and distributors have 14.9 thousand packs of ibuprofen in the form of suppositories. Representatives of the department and “Honest Sign” might not clarify why the medicine is not in pharmacies. The Ministry of Health and Roszdravnadzor did not respond to the publication’s request.

Ibuprofen in the form of suppositories is included in the list of essential medicines. It is used when children cannot take the drug in other forms. Ibuprofen as an active ingredient in the production of suppositories is imported to Russia from China and India, solid fat for suppositories is mainly produced by the German company Ioi Oleochemical. Earlier, Russian pharmaceutical companies spoke regarding the unprofitability of its production.
