Biathlon offspring shone at the Austria Cup in Saalfelden

The cross-country ski run and the shooting range at Ritzensee were populated by around 200 young biathletes. Three Pinzgau talents ran to victory.

On December 30th, the first biathlon competition for young talents of the 2022/23 winter season took place as part of an Austria Cup with a classification for the SLSV state cup. The sprint competition organized by HSV Saalfelden was held on the artificial snow trail near Ritzensee in glorious weather despite the poor winter conditions. Almost 200 athletes between the ages of seven and 15 were at the start. In these age groups, in the biathlon junior section, an air rifle is shot at a distance of ten meters at targets with a diameter of 35 millimeters.

Numerous local heroes were able to present themselves very well in all age groups in the Austria-wide and with German participation top-class starting field. The decision in the “S13 Elite female” class was extremely exciting, where Fanny Oberschneider (SK Saalfelden) finished first with a wafer-thin lead of 0.2 seconds over Hannah Ronacher (HSV Saalfelden).

There were other Pinzgau victories with Annabelle Langreiter (SK Saalfelden; K9) and Daniel Hirschbichler (SC Leogang; K12). Magdalena Egger (K12) took second and Simone Eder (S15 Elite; both SC Leogang) third.
