An award show in Hollywood invariably guarantees a series of striking looks. The eightieth year of the Golden Globes did not disappoint in that respect either. These were the craziest, most beautiful and most striking looks on the red carpet.
Our guess? Former top model Heidi Klum (49) is a big fan of ‘our’ Ameerah. And especially from her ‘Eurosong’ song ‘The Carnival’…
The surprise of the evening. Actress Jenna Ortega (20) has made waves in recent weeks thanks to the Netflix series ‘Wednesday’, in which she only wears black outfits. For these Golden Globes it was clearly allowed to be something else. Mission accomplished in this dress from the Italian fashion house Gucci.
Jenna had one position switch done with fellow actress Jamie Lee Curtis (64). She appeared in a black dress – with matching cape – for which Wednesday Addams would undoubtedly kill (or two, three, …).
There’s no such thing as too big a bow, must be MJ Rodriguez (32) have thought. And so the ‘Pose’ actress immediately donned the largest specimen she might find. For the ‘fans’: it’s one from Balmain.
The undisputed queen of cool of these Golden Globes. We didn’t know it was a thing, but thanks Natasha Lyonne (43) we also want to wear our rings over gloves. That she also neatly balances the pointy shoulders of her “Saint Laurent” dress is just a bonus.
There has never been anyone who might sell an abundance of ruffles and pleats as a stylish outfit. So no, actress Michelle Williams (42) neither.
We said it! Also with actress Julia Garner (28) is an excess of ruffles not a winner, baby.
It reportedly took fashion house Chanel 750 hours to make the actress’ Golden Globes dress Margot Robbie (32) to make. So why does the end result look so ‘middle of the road’, to borrow a term from Alex Callier? We have no idea either.
A new award show, and a new tuxedo dress from Billy Porter (53). According to some, the signature look of the ‘Pose’ star, according to others (read: us) then once more a serious case of déjà vu. Although we still want to compliment Billy for his glitter boots. No doubt not our size, but we want it!
Actress Jessica Chastain (45) is known for always choosing the right dress for a red carpet. And once once more it was a prize in this artistic spider web by Oscar de la Renta.
Dress yourself according to the theme: singer/actress Jennifer Hudson (41) knows all regarding it in this gold colored dress by CD Greene.
Musician/actor Donald Glover (39) was apparently already in his pajamas in front of the television when he realized that he was expected at the Golden Globes. Are quick fix? Just put on a suit vest and hope no one notices. Bad luck.
Actress Angela Bassett (64) exuded vintage Hollywood glamor in this dress by Pammela Roland. The fact that she also won the statuette for ‘best film actress in a supporting role’, completed her passage completely.
Actress Salma Hayek (56) might have scored with this Gucci dress. Had, because those black bra straps ruin the whole thing.
The eighties called: they urgently want this costume back, Adam Scott (49).
She took on the skin of ‘Pam & Tommy’ – and the bright red ‘Baywatch’ bathing suit – of Pamela Anderson, and that color brought the actress Lily James (33) also got lucky at the Golden Globes, where she received the statuette for best TV actress.
The color looks great on her, but we really don’t understand why presenter / actress Niecy Nash (52) opted for that extra volume. No need, right?
Well, apparently that’s a trend. Pop star Selena Gomez (30) also appeared on the red carpet with extra arm decorations. A shame, because her dress also looks a lot nicer without those unnecessary frills.
They ski the red carpet, but also power couple Rihanna (34) in A$AP Rocky (34) made their appearance at the Golden Globes. There, Rihanna – dressed in a Schiaparelli outfit specially made for her – immediately taught Selena and Niecy how to do justice to such mega sleeves.
