Actor Jayasuriya talks regarding the difficulties he faced in playing the title role in the film ‘Naan Merikutty’. Jayasuriya said that he might not adjust to the character in the first few days and even thought of quitting the film.
The actor said that when he might not act the character in any way, he went to the caravan and cried. But Jayasuriya said that with the help of God, he was able to perform that character well and it all happened somehow. Jayasurya shared these things in an interview given to Cannes channel.
‘That was the moment I realized my inner woman. Don’t you want to tear us apart, that’s really what the movie was regarding. Can’t we say that none of us, Jayasuriya, had any role, that’s what happened that day. It was a situation where your body was telling you to give up.

He reached the point where he was standing with his hands folded, saying that he might not do it. God’s help came. I was able to do the role of Marykutty very well. It happened that way,’ said Jayasurya.
Naam Merikutty is a 2018 movie written and directed by Ranjith Shankar. The actor played the character of Marykutty, a trans woman in the film. Innocent, Jewel Mary, Aju Varghese, Suraj Venjaramood played other important roles in the film.
