Stefan Rogentin set the best time in the first and perhaps only training session of the Lauberhorn descent. Beat Feuz was ranked 4th. This took place on a shortened route, starting above the Hundschopf.
Stefan Rogentin preceded French veteran Johan Clarey by 0.21 and Norwegian Aleksander Kilde by 0.58. Beat Feuz for once put the throttle in training and finished 4th at 0”67. The Bernese Olympic champion will end his glorious career following the races in Wengen and Kitzbühel.
The fact of having been able to hold a training session is a relief for the organizers, due to the poor weather forecasts for the next few days. The descent scheduled for Saturday can take place even if the training sessions on Wednesday and Thursday were to be cancelled.
A super-G is also on the program on Friday on the Lauberhorn track. As for the slalom, it will take place on Sunday.

The 2nd stage of Garmisch canceled for lack of snow
The 2nd stage of the Alpine Skiing World Cup scheduled for Garmisch-Partenkirchen (Germany) on January 28 and 29 has been canceled due to lack of snow. After having organized a men’s slalom on January 4, the German station was to host a downhill and a giant men’s on the Kandahar track. “The FIS is studying a possible replacement” by another station.
Exceptionally mild temperatures prevail over part of Europe and have melted the snowpack at high altitudes. Several international competitions are thus canceled while many tracks are closed to tourists.
