NNA – A representative of the “National News Agency” stated that the outer courtyard of the Palace of Justice in Beirut witnessed this morning a gathering of dozens of families of the victims of the Beirut port explosion, with the participation of a number of deputies, under the title “Stopping the investigation is also a crime”, coinciding with the meeting of the Judicial Council. Supreme Council to demand the appointment of judges of the Court of Cassation.

Soon, the matter developed into the storming of the sit-down gates of the Palace of Justice and the entry of most of them into the inner courtyard, where there were disputes between them and the members of the security forces, which led to injuries among the people amid a state of intense anger.

The sit-down accused a number of judges of having “political agendas and preventing the issuance of the decision to appoint cassation judges.”

After negotiations with the security forces, which were led by Representative Melhem Khalaf, a number of people began to leave the inner courtyard of the Palace of Justice, vowing to continue the movements and that their case would not die, calling on officials and judges to arbitrate their consciences. And they announced that they are “awaiting a decision regarding the session of the Supreme Judicial Council to decide their next move.

A spokesman for the people, William Noun, said that they were “satiated with talking and are waiting for a solution to their case, and that they no longer tolerate peaceful movements,” revealing that “a delegation from them will meet with the President of the Supreme Judicial Council to find a definitive solution, and that the meeting of the Judicial Council will be followed by a meeting that will be held by the people and activists from the community.” sympathetic to their cause.

A number of the protesters expressed their regret that they were “forced to stand up to the security forces,” stressing that the solution exists through the Court of Cassation’s meeting to reject the decision to stop the hand of the judicial investigator, Judge Tariq Al-Bitar.
