French President Emmanuel Macron was exposed to an embarrassing situation following an autistic journalist asked him regarding his relationship with his wife, Brigitte, and how he was related to her, who was his teacher.
During a session with autistic interlocutors from “Le Papotin”, an outlet founded in 1990 in a day-care center in Paris, the journalist said: “You are the boss, you must set an example and do not marry your teacher!”
The question was met with laughter, with the interviewer describing them as “extraordinary journalists” who are notorious for asking such daring questions.
“You don’t choose who you love.”
Macron replied: “You don’t choose who you love. She wasn’t really my teacher, she taught me theatre. It doesn’t matter.”
The president’s response to the question was met with chuckles, and one reporter said: “It was a clever answer.” Macron replied, “That’s right! You’re already checking my answers. It’s not like she’s the math teacher.”
“I’m trying to negotiate”
Looking at the journalist, Macron jokingly said, “I’m trying to negotiate.”
Macron, 45, met Brigitte, 69, when she was teaching literature to a 15-year-old girl at La Providence high school.
