Sergey Karasev said that he will not become younger “when everything returns”, and it is unlikely that he will immediately receive appointments for status matches in Europe

Russian FIFA referee Sergei Karasev told Match TV that he considers his international career to be over.
Karasev has been a FIFA referee since 2010, he officiated the matches of the World and European Championships, the Olympics, the UEFA Super Cup.
When asked if it was his goal to work in the Champions League and Europa League finals, Karasev replied: “That was the goal until February. Now I clearly understand that my international career is over.”
According to the 43-year-old referee, Russian judges have not been working in Europe for almost a year and it is not known how long this will last.
“And when everything returns, I will not be younger. A lot of time not to judge in Europe is still simple. You do not have international matches of a serious level – neither the Champions League, nor the Europa League. If there are no such games for a long time, then there will be no appointments for a long time. I understand perfectly well that the international career is 100% over,” said Karasev.
UEFA and FIFA at the end of February suspended Russian teams and clubs from international competitions. Sanctions did not affect Russian referees, but UEFA declaredwhich will not yet give them assignments for matches in tournaments under its auspices due to problems with traveling abroad.
