Syrian artist George Wassouf asks to read the Qur’an in his son’s condolences – (videos)

Beirut: Sheikh Yasser Al-Saleh recited some verses from the Holy Quran, specifically some verses from Surat Maryam, during the condolence for the death of Wadih George Wassoufwho died of complications from surgery.

The Syrian artist, George Wassouf, accepted condolences on the death of his son, Wadih, in his hometown of Kafroun, Syria.

Mourners flocked and were keen to console the Sultan of Tarab, and support him in his crisis, in an attempt to calm “Abu Wadih”, following he accepted condolences in Lebanon at St. Nicholas Church in Ashrafieh yesterday, Sunday.

And Sheikh Al-Saleh explained that George Wassouf had previously asked him to read Surat Maryam during his mother’s condolences, and he also confirmed that he had memorized some verses from the Qur’an.

He said, “Abu Wadih is a schoolmaster…he asked me to recite Surat Maryam…Abu Wadih memorizes from the Book of God, and recites the Book of God…When I read Surah Maryam to him, he used to repeat with me until he guided me to some musical scales.”

The funeral of George Wassouf’s son, also a priest, attended, chanting hymns, while George Wassouf collapsed at the moment of his son’s burial in Kafroun in Syria, and the mourners were keen to calm him down and be patient in his ordeal.
