What are the best (and worst) states in the US to be a nurse?

With National Nurses Week underway, the portal WalletHub published a study that compiles the best and worst states in the country for practice the profession during this year.

In total there were 21 measurements (under the categories of work environment and opportunity and competition) used in the study to prepare the final report.

What are the best ones to be a nurse in the United States?

According to the Wallethub study, Washington, Maine, New Mexico, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Oregon, Arizona, Montana, Rhode Island, and Connecticut make up the top 10 best states to be a nurse.

Looking at individual data, California has the highest median annual salary for registered nurses, at $91,709.

The lowest, on the other hand, is in South Dakota, with $60,743.

North Dakota, meanwhile, has the highest current competition, with 20 nurses per thousand residents.

The lowest record is from Utah, with nine.

In this statistic, the future looks bright for North Dakota, which is projected to have 23 per thousand inhabitants by the year 2028. The counterpart is Nevada, which might only have two.

When it comes to medical professionals and services, Minnesota has the best ratio of nurses to hospital beds, at 4.99, double that of Wyoming, at 2.44.

And the worst?

According to the study, Oklahoma, Alabama, Hawaii, Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee, South Carolina, Georgia and Kansas are at the forefront of the grayest part of the statistics.

Hawaii, for example, has the fewest nursing openings per capita.
