Alpine wants to get closer to Porsche sales and become a big luxury brand

Alpine currently markets only one model, the tasty A110 which sets the benchmark in the reasonably affordable sports car category. Its sales obviously remain confidential, this kind of vehicle only interesting a fringe of enthusiasts. But beware, Alpine wants to become a real big luxury manufacturer. After having already announced it a few weeks ago in its great Renault group press conferenceLuca de Meo has just repeated it to our colleagues fromAutomotive News giving more details of his plans.

Alpine is aiming to sell around 150,000 cars per year worldwide by 2030, a figure more than fifty times greater than the brand’s current production level! To achieve this objective, the boss of the Renault group is obviously counting on the construction of a wide range of electric models: with the sports compact cousin of the Renault R5 expected for 2024, the SUV compact planned for 2025, the replacement for the Alpine A110 in 2026, a family SUV in 2027 and a large SUV in 2028, Alpine will have a plethora of models in key segments by the end of the decade. What position Alpine as an exceptional market benchmark once morest Porsche or Maserati?

An ambitious plan

Remember that Porsche, the best-established automobile brand in the world in the segment of very high-end models, sold just over 300,000 cars worldwide in 2021. Alpine’s plan is therefore to reach half of this figure in just six years following the arrival of the first electric model. And Luca de Meo also wants to impose Alpine outside of Europe. Sacred ambitions!
