Investing.com – US stocks were mixed at the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher. On the other hand, losses were recorded in the , and sectors, which led the indices down.
At the end of trading in New York, it decreased by 0.34%, while it weakened by 0.08% and strengthened its position at 0.63%.
Among the leading stocks today was Salesforce Inc (NYSE: NYSE), which rose 4.69%, or 6.59 points, to close at 147.10. On the other hand, shares of Intel Group (NASDAQ:) increased by 2.02%, or 0.58 points, and closed at 29.31, while shares of Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE:) increased 1.41%, or 4.92 points, to 353.00 by the end of the session.
As for the worst performer at the end of the day, Merck & Co. (NYSE:) closed down by 3.88%, or 4.46 points, to trade at 110.38 at the close. Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:) declined 2.59%, or 4.67 points, to end at 175.58, and Kos Travelers Corporation (NYSE:) closed down 2.45%, or 4.75 points, to 189.12.
On the other hand, the best performance in the Standard & Poor’s 500 index was recorded by Tesla shares (NASDAQ:), which rose by 5.93%, at a price of 119.77, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd (NYSE:) also continued its rise at 5.90%, and closed at 13.81 levels, as well as In Vidia Group (NASDAQ:) stock, which rose to 5.18%, and closed at a price of 156.28.
Among the stocks that underperformed today, we mention Baxter International Inc. (NYSE:), which fell by 7.74%, closing at a price of 44.70, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:), which lost 7.69%, to a price of 680.49, and Northrop Grumman Corp. (NYSE:), which weakened by 4.99% and closed at 495.41 in today’s session on the stock market.
On the other hand, the best performance in the Nasdaq index was recorded by shares CinCor Pharma Inc (NASDAQ:), which rose by 143.97%, at a price of 28.74, Amryt Pharma Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ:) also continued its rise at 106.99% and closed at 14.51 levels, as well as Albireo Pharma Inc (NASDAQ:) rose to 92.16% and closed at 43.85.
Among the underperforming stocks today, we mention the stock of the company Calithera Biosciences Inc (NASDAQ:), which fell by 81.77%, and closed its session at a price of 0.66, shares of Peak Bio Inc (NASDAQ:), which lost 27.27%, at a price of 2.56 shares. Cerus Corp (NASDAQ:), which weakened by 28.04% and closed at 2.72 for the day’s session on the stock exchange.
The number of gainers exceeded the number of shares that closed lower in trading on the New York Stock Exchange with 1867 compared to 1201, while 99 remained unchanged. As for the Nasdaq stock exchange, 2182 of the stocks strengthened their position and 1581 retreated, while 158 of the stocks maintained their value.

Amryt Pharma Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ:) shares climbed to a record high in 52 weeks, adding 106.99%, or 7.50 points, to a price of 14.51. Shares in Peak Bio Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to an all-time low, dropping 27.27%, or 0.96 points, to 2.56. Albireo Pharma Inc (NASDAQ:) shares climbed to a record high, adding 92.16%, or 21.03 points, to a price of 43.85. Cerus Corp (NASDAQ:) shares fell to a record low, falling 28.04%, or 1.06 points, to 2.72.

As for the March contract for Brent oil contracts, it increased by 1.46%, or 1.15 points, and closed at $79.72 per barrel.
The EUR/USD pair added 0.83% and traded at 1.07 levels, while the USD/JPY pair continued its decline by 0.19%, reaching 131.82 levels.
Dollar index futures traded down by 0.68%, at 102.94.
