NFL player Hamlin discharged from hospital

A week following suffering cardiac arrest, football player Damar Hamlin has left Cincinnati University Hospital and returned to Buffalo. The Buffalo Bills safety flew back by plane Monday and is now at Buffalo General Medical Center.

“I can confirm that he is doing well, this is the beginning of the next step in his recovery,” said hospital doctor William Knight. Hamlin tweeted Monday that he was grateful for the great treatment he received at the Cincinnati hospital. “I’m glad to be back in Buffalo.” There, the doctors and hospital staff would make sure “that I already feel at home.”

Hamlin collapsed midway through the first quarter following a defensive move typical of a football game a week ago Monday in the Bills’ game once morest the Cincinnati Bengals. He had to be resuscitated twice on the field and on the way to the hospital.

He was admitted in critical condition and treated in intensive care. At the end of last week, his recovery made great progress, and the breathing tube was removed on Friday.
