What is the exceptional energy check?

Distributed since December 12, 2022, the exceptional energy check is an aid put in place by the State to deal with the increase in electricity and gas prices. Its amount varies between 100 and 200 euros.

12.6 million French people can benefit from this aid. No action is required, the check is automatically sent by post to the persons concerned.

It is calculated according to the income declared in 2021 for the year 2020, and the composition of families on January 1, 2021.

Households with a reference tax income per consumption unit of between 10,800 and 17,400 euros receive a check for 100 euros.

For checks of 200 euros, a reference tax income per consumption unit of less than 10,800 euros is required.

With this check, the families concerned can pay their energy bills, heating costs or expenses related to the energy renovation of their homes.
