Dead from the Limmat in Zurich identified
A man was rescued from the Limmat on Neumühlequai in Zurich’s district 6 early on Saturday morning. Despite immediate resuscitation measures, the man died. He has now been identified, police said.
The man was discovered by a passer-by, who immediately alerted the emergency services. The man died a little later in the hospital.
Shortly before 2 a.m., a passer-by alerted the Zurich city police following discovering a lifeless person floating in the Limmat at Neumühlequai 30.
The water police were able to rescue the man and immediately initiate initial resuscitation measures. These were continued by the paramedics from Protection & Rescue Zurich. The man was then taken to the hospital, as the Zurich city police wrote in a statement.
He was only wearing red swimming trunks. The man’s identity was unclear. Now the Zurich city police are saying: It is a 53-year-old German. There is no evidence of a crime, the city police said on Monday. (ced/SDA)
