A cargo ship ran aground in the Suez Canal

The cargo ship Glory ran aground in the Suez Canal near the city of El Kantara in northern Egypt. Tugs are trying to get the ship afloat. This was reported by the Egyptian shipping agency Leth Agencies.

“The cargo ship Glory has run aground, joining a southbound caravan of ships near El Kantara,” Leth Agencies tweeted.

Dry cargo ship Glory is involved in the export of food from Ukraine under the grain agreement. According to the data service Marine Traffic, December 24, the ship left the port of Chornomorsk in Ukraine. Its length is 225 m.

On March 23, 2021, one of the largest container ships in the world, Ever Given, ran aground in the Suez Canal. As a result, traffic along the canal was completely blocked, which led to multimillion-dollar losses. Carriers had to use a longer route bypassing the Cape of Good Hope.
