Political observers had feared for months that the storming of the Capitol in Washington on January 6, 2021 might be repeated if right-wing populist Jair Messias Bolsonaro was defeated in Brazil. Now it is done. On Sunday, radical supporters of the ex-military stormed the capital’s government district and gained access to Congress, the Supreme Court and the presidential palace. The three buildings are arranged around the Square of the Three Powers in the heart of the capital.
