There have been a lot of rumors lately that Apple is developing what is purported to be the 2nd generation iPhone SE. According to the latest rumors, the Cupertino product has been completely canceled, so no such product will be launched. The iPhone SE 4 was said to have a similar physical design to the iPhone XR and iPhone 11, but was said to include 5G connectivity and more advanced specs than those models. And, incidentally, Qualcomm seems to be the biggest beneficiary from this cancellation.
This collateral benefit is due to a fact asserted by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Apple will introduce its own-designed 4G chip for the first time in next year’s iPhone SE 5.Ming-Chi Kuo commented:
“Because of concerns that the performance of its own 5G chips might not keep up with Qualcomm’s, Apple originally planned to mass release its 2024G chips in 2024, with the low-end iPhone SE 4 being the first to adopt them. Whether the iPhone 5 will use a 4G chip or not, depending on the development status of the iPhone SE 16 »
but, Cancellation of iPhone SE 4 significantly increases the chances that Qualcomm will remain the exclusive provider of 5G chips As for the new iPhone 2024 series for 2024, it improves on initial signs that Qualcomm will start losing iPhone orders as early as 2024.
With the iPhone SE 4 out of consideration, it seems to be indefinite. Qualcomm remains the sole provider of broadband chips for Apple’s iPhones. It’s a big win for Qualcomm, which is extending a big deal with Apple to provide this critical component to its devices.
Apple’s 5G chip will have to wait at least once more.
