Flam3D and Mikrocentrum will develop an AM learning community that contributes to the international positioning and competence development of each other’s supporters. The aim of this collaboration is to strengthen the additive manufacturing ecosystem in the Netherlands and Flanders.
Bert-Jan Woertman and Kris Binon, respectively director of Mikrocentrum and Flam3D, have signed the letter of intent to strengthen cooperation in the AM field prior to the Techcafë AM. Kris Binon was one of the panel members of this discussion regarding the meaning and position of additive manufacturing in the high-tech industry. Kris Binon already noted in this discussion that more should be invested in knowledge, for example design knowledge. “Design is one of the core themes within AM.”
Strengthen collaboration
In the letter of intent, the two parties agree that they will strengthen their cooperation in AM. With this they want to stimulate the high-tech and manufacturing industry and strengthen the position of the Dutch and Belgian 3D printing network. This is done, among other things, by offering joint masterclasses, lectures and specific parts for events on themes such as digitization and system integration of end-to-end production lines. Joint communication regarding the program components is also being worked on.
AM to the next step
According to Bert-Jan Woertman, it is now important to take the next step in the implementation of AM technology in the value chain: “Collaborations such as with Flam3D and the associated network of ambitious manufacturing companies are essential for this.” According to Kris Binon, the various techniques have been further developed into a full-fledged production technology that opens up new possibilities for design and ecologically responsible production. By joining forces and networks, they all win and create an AM ecosystem that is at the forefront of the world.
