A 19-year-old man was shot and injured around 11:40 p.m. Saturday in the Saint-Laurent borough of Montreal at the corner of Dépatie and Cléroux streets.

A call to 9-1-1 was made Saturday evening, around 11:40 p.m., following a person was shot on rue Dépatie, near rue Cléroux, mentioned by Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the Service de police of the City of Montreal (SPVM).
Upon arriving at the scene, police were able to locate the victim, a 19-year-old man. He was conscious and injured in the upper body by a gunshot. He was taken to a hospital and is in stable condition.
Initial information indicates that the victim was walking on the street, while two suspects followed on foot. They assaulted the man to steal his belongings, and one of them shot the victim followingwards. They fled on foot before the police arrived.
The scene is currently protected by investigators, as well as forensic identification technicians. The canine unit was also dispatched to the scene, in search of clues.
There are no arrests at this time. The investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of this event.
