From Basra, the future is Iraqi, by the writer / Jawad Al-Bolani

The Qatari capital, Doha, presented a good image following organizing the World Cup, and now the opportunity has arisen to organize the 25th Gulf Championship in Basra, where the Shatt al-Arab, palm groves, the al-Sayyab statue, the rivers of the city, and the feelings of its people from Saad Square to al-Faw, Basra, for which the heart of every Gulf yearns,
Tired Basra, which has been neglected for a long time, still provides with its usual generosity more than 90 percent of Iraq’s budget every year, and it is a generosity that must be reciprocated, as the city overlooking the Arabian Gulf possesses, in addition to its location, many qualifications and opportunities.
The political class must pay attention to development, which can only be achieved by spreading a political and rational calm and moving away from the theory of treason, to move the wheel of reconstruction with visual eyes that are favorable for the south to rise following decades of neglect and negligence.
It is an opportunity to create a positive future, by presenting young faces to the leadership behind the current generation to build economic, scientific and practical institutions, on the ruins of a present full of negatives, to heal the rift of confidence in decision-makers. It is time to rebuild Basra with what comes from its bounties.
We have to rectify the policy mistakes that wasted economic and human capabilities, and seize the opportunity because it does not come for free, and because our people in the south have been failed over and over once more.
