Spanish coach Julen Lopetegui, coach of Wolverhampton, bemoaned the loss of the victory over his team and its 2/2 draw with its host Liverpool, on Saturday evening, in the third round of the FA Cup, for the two teams to play a rematch.
Wolverhampton was able to emerge victorious, but the referee canceled a goal scored by Totti in the 82nd minute for offside, without referring to the video assistant referee technique due to the lack of final footage. The decision was verified, but according to the “ATV” station, there was no correct angle for the camera through the “mouse” technique to decide whether or not there was infiltration.
Lopetegui expressed his conviction that the goal was correct following watching the clip once more on the screen. “I can’t say anything,” Lopetegui said. “We spoke to the referee. He was very quiet, but he listened to us.”
He added, “It is unfortunate because today there is a mouse technology. He tried to explain the matter, but it was not entirely clear. I think the goal is correct through the camera that I saw in the replay.”
“I didn’t know that, it’s a pity,” he said, when told that there was no appropriate angle available for the video assistant referee.
“I am disappointed and frustrated, the reaction is a bit disappointing because I was so proud of the players, they deserved more,” he explained.
