1.85 million dollars, this is the sum paid by CD Projekt Red to its investors for having lied regarding the deplorable quality of the game when it launched in December 2020, concerning the PS4 and Xbox One versions. We remember that when the game was released, the Polish studio was taken to court by the Rosen law firm, which represented the investors, asking for damages for false or misleading statements. CD Projekt Red had not revealed that Cyberpunk 2077 was “virtually unplayable” on PS4 and Xbox consoles and that the launch of these versions in no way reflected the true final quality of the product. A representative of the plaintiffs had estimated the total potential damages at $11 million. Justice finally withheld a fine of 1.85 million dollars, which represents 16.8% of the estimated recoverable damages, or compensation of approximately $0.49 per eligible share of CD Projekt titles. This amount will also be used to pay class members, administration fees, taxes, attorneys’ fees and costs, and plaintiff incentive awards.
