MONTREAL – CF Montreal announced on Friday that it has awarded midfielder Victor Wanyama a new contract for the 2023 and 2024 seasons, who will remain Designated Player with the Club.
The radio station reporter 98,5 FM Jeremy Filosa had revealed the information in the evening on social media Thursday.
In the official press release, Olivier Renard, vice-president and chief sports officer of CF Montreal, did not hide his satisfaction at having retained the services of the Kenyan veteran.
“Over the past three seasons, he has been an important player both on the field and in the locker room. His personality, his experience and his qualities as a player will help us in particular in terms of the stability of the group for the coming season,” noted Renard.
For his part, Wanyama said he was excited to stay with the club and in the city where he says he has been very happy for the past three years.

The 31-year-old Wanyama joined the Montreal organization following a free transfer from Tottenham Hotspur FC on March 3, 2020.
In three seasons in MLS, he played 80 games, including 78 as a starter, for a total of 6,891 minutes played in the regular season. He had five goals and eight assists.
He also played 90 minutes in six Champions League games for the Montreal team in his last two appearances, two games once morest CD Olimpia in 2020 and four games in 2022 once morest Santos Laguna and Cruz Azul.
