Archyde.com reported on the 5th (local time) that a male passenger on a passenger plane operated by Air India has been acting indecently, such as urinating on another passenger.
On November 26, 2018, an Air India flight from New York to Delhi caused a disturbance, including a drunken male passenger urinating on a female passenger sitting next to him.
The airline later banned the man from boarding for 30 days.
However, a similar thing happened ten days following this happened.
A male passenger on a flight from Paris to New Delhi on December 6 last year urinated on an empty seat and another passenger’s blanket.
Air India said the male passenger who behaved indecently at the time of the second incident was detained by authorities upon arrival at the airport, but was released following reaching an agreement with the victim and submitting an apology.
India introduced a rule in 2017 that bans passengers who cause disturbances on board and disobey controls from boarding the plane for at least three months to more than two years, depending on the severity of the behavior.
However, there are criticisms that Air India has not properly applied this regulation to a series of recent in-flight incidents and has not responded adequately.
The Civil Aviation Authority of India (DGCA) pointed out that Air India did not appear to be in compliance with the relevant regulations.
Air India is part of the Tata Group and is one of India’s leading airlines.
