260,512 passenger cars (cars) were newly registered in November 2022, +31.4 percent more than in the same month. The number of new commercial registrations increased by +36.3 percent, their share was 63.8 percent. Private new registrations increased by +23.5 percent. Overall, in the first eleven months of the year -2.4 percent fewer cars were registered than in the same period of the previous year. The number of new registrations of electric passenger cars (BEV) increased by +44.0 percent to 57,980 units in the reporting month.
Among the German brands, Audi achieved the clearest growth in November with a 109.1 percent increase in registrations. Volkswagen (+58.3 percent) and Ford (+54.3 percent) achieved increases in registrations of more than 50 percent, while Mercedes achieved an increase of 34.0 percent. At Porsche (+14.8 percent) and BMW (+13.4 percent), growth was still in the two-digit range. In the case of Smart (-46.2 percent), Mini (-6.8 percent) and Opel (-2.0 percent), however, new registrations fell compared to the same month last year. Volkswagen once more accounted for the largest share of new registrations at 18.0 percent, followed by Mercedes at 10.6 percent.
Of the imported brands with a new registration share of 2.5 percent and more, Tesla achieved the largest increase in November with +92.7 percent, followed by Dacia (+83.3 percent), Seat (+63.0 percent) and Toyota, whose New registrations were 40.1 percent higher than in the same month. Fiat (+27.1 percent) and Kia (+23.1 percent) recorded increases of more than 20 percent. Hyundai achieved an increase of 2.7 percent. On the other hand, among the imported brands with more than 2.5 percent of new registrations, Renault (-30.2 percent) and Skoda (-2.1 percent) recorded declining results.
The SUV segment accounted for the largest share of new registrations at 29.1 percent, which grew by 31.2 percent in the month under review, followed by the compact class, whose share was 16.1 percent following an increase of 35.9 percent. The middle class achieved a share of 11.9 percent (+63.6 percent), the share of off-road vehicles was 11.6 percent (+52.9 percent). Large-capacity vans recorded the most significant growth with an increase of 188.4 percent. Their share of new registrations in November was then 2.4 percent. The upper middle class (+61.2 percent/3.3 percent), sports cars (+38.3 percent/0.8 percent), utilities (+37.3 percent/3.9 percent), the luxury class (+18.6 percent/1.0 percent) and the minis (+13.0 percent/6.2 percent). On the other hand, there was less demand for mobile homes, which recorded the sharpest decline at -23.3 percent. Their share was 1.2 percent. The small cars were -4.6 percent and a share of 11.0 percent below the result of the same month last year, as were the mini-vans (-2.0 percent/0.9 percent).
The number of new registrations of electric passenger cars (BEV) increased by +44.0 percent to 57,980 units in the reporting month. Their share was 22.3 percent and was thus higher than the share of plug-in hybrids, which was 17.1 percent with 44,581 new registrations. A total of 88,278 hybrids, including plug-in hybrids, were newly registered. With a share of 27.9 percent, most new registrations were attributable to petrol vehicles, the number of which increased by +10.1 percent compared to the same month last year. In the case of diesel passenger cars, there was an increase in new registrations of +27.6 percent, their share of new registrations was 15.3 percent. The number of new cars powered by liquid gas increased by +19.3 percent to 1,490 units, their share was 0.6 percent. There were 119 new registrations of natural gas passenger cars, 35.0 percent fewer than in the same month last year. Their share was 0.0 percent.
Average CO2 emissions fell by -7.4 percent in November and stood at 96.6 g/km.
In the case of commercial vehicles, semi-trailer tractors achieved an increase of +18.8 percent, while tractor units as a whole accounted for -2.1 percent compared to the same month last year. Lorries (trucks) achieved a 15.6 percent increase in new registrations. The registration of brand-new buses in November was -32.8 percent below the result of the same month. Other motor vehicles (motor vehicles) increased by +5.7 percent.
In November, motorcycles showed a clear increase of 70.0 percent. A total of 307,952 vehicles and 22,794 vehicle trailers were newly registered.
In November, a total of 555,161 vehicles (-7.7 percent) and 33,501 vehicle trailers (+3.9 percent) changed owners. (awm)
