Aeroméxico plane was shot in Culiacán for the capture of the son of Chapo (+ video)

The airline canceled all its flights to and from Sinaloa, in northwestern Mexico.

The Aeroméxico company suspended all its flights to and from the state of Sinaloa following a commercial aircraft received bullet wounds when it was regarding to take off from the Culiacán airport, capital of the state in northwestern Mexico.

Culiacán lives a brutal day of violence and uncertainty following the alleged capture of Ovidio Guzmán López, son of drug trafficker Joaquín “el Chapo” Guzmán Loera.

In the midst of clashes between armed men and security forces in the vicinity of the Culiacán airport, an Embraer 190 crew from flight AM 165 was hit by bullets, damaging the aircraft’s fuselage. The flight to Mexico City was cancelled.

“The plane never started its takeoff run,” Aeroméxico reported in a press release.

“After this incident, the company’s protocols were activated and notice was given to the corresponding authorities, with whom we will coordinate the investigations,” the airline explained.

Derived from this violent incident, Aeroméxico canceled all its flights to and from Sinaloa. Meanwhile, the Culiacán and Mazatlán Airports announced the closure.

Videos circulated on social networks regarding the detonations of firearms registered in the vicinity of the Culiacán airport.

In the Sinaloan capital, vehicles are being burned, road blocks and clashes between armed men, presumably members of the faction of the Sinaloa Cartel known as Los Chapitos for being commanded by the sons of ‘Chapo’, including Ovidio Guzmán López.

Until now, the local authorities recommend not leaving the houses and school and administrative activities have been suspended.
