Oelsnitz (Saxony) – “Guide stolen from exhibition” is the flippant headline of a press release by Oelsnitzer Kultur GmbH.
The “leader” is none other than Nazi-Dictator Adolf Hitler († 56) and it was stolen at an exhibition in Oelsnitz (Vogtland). Namely the cardboard box including 51 of the 60 cards of the “Führer-Quartett-Spiel” from the time of the Third Reich.
“The crime was committed on December 28th or 29th of last year during the opening hours of the Voigtsberg Castle Museum, and police investigations are already underway,” said Daniel Petri, Managing Director of the Castle. “Since some of the quartet’s cards were placed in another display case, this quartet was stolen incomplete.”
Reward of 1000 euros offered
In addition to the “Führer Quartet Game”, the thieves also stole the card game “From World War to the Third Reich” from the special exhibition “Quartet – Four Cards for a Hallelujah” – consisting of 48 cards in a cardboard box. Both quartet games are said to be in excellent condition.
Petri: “Due to the high museum value – the theft of the culturally significant objects is also a loss for the general public – the Oelsnitzer Kultur GmbH, in consultation with the chairman of the supervisory board, Mayor Mario Horn, has decided to offer an additional reward of up to 1000 euros for information leading to the apprehension of the perpetrator or perpetrators and the recovery of the card decks.”
Information is available to the police on 037421 430 or to the Voigtsberg Castle Museum on (037421) 729484.
