For the 19th day of the Premier League, Chelsea received Manchester City for a high-flying meeting. If the meeting struggled to take off, Chelsea may regret not having managed to score. Because opposite, Pep Guardiola can count on his bench which will have been involved in the only goal of the meeting. In the standings, City is five points behind Arsenal.
The first period will be dominated by Chelsea despite possession of the ball for the Citizens. Yet Chelsea have to deal with two injuries (Sterling et Pulisic), but the Blues show up at the quarter of an hour via Pulisic (before his exit on injury).
If Chelsea suffer, Chelsea have the possibilities. Kai Havertz leave alone Rodri on site and center set back for Chukwuemeka. The latter is countered and Judge Ziyech sees his strike repelled by Ederson.
On the City side, it was not until the 32nd minute to finally see an opportunity, but the shot from Gundogan passes by.
If City get a second chance in the 45th via João Cancelo, Chelsea should have led 1-0, but Chukwuemeka saw his sending off denied by the post a minute before Cancelo’s chance. It’s 0-0 at halftime.
Pep Guardiola therefore took the opportunity to change two defenders on the return from the locker room in order to reorganize his team a little, in difficulty in 1st.
These changes are good, City accelerate, are better and find the post via What (50th). De Bruyne is not left out since the Red Devil gets two good opportunities to open the scoring. Opposite, Chelsea is not left out and Silva misses the goal.
The match finally accelerates and the opener comes from the feet of Mahrez who on a pass of Grealish made 0-1. The two players, who entered the game at half-time, prove Pep Guardiola who is in the process of succeeding.
Despite the attempts of both teams, the score will not change. Haaland will therefore not have scored despite a good attempt via a pass from Kevin De Bruyne. Manchester City is doing the right thing and drops to five points behind Arsenal in the standings. Chelsea sinks a little more and is 10th overall.
