New LG TV that works wirelessly

LG has presented during CES 2023 its new LG Signature OLED M TV, which they claim is the first completely wireless TV. Both the image and sound signals are received wirelessly, transmitted from a main box in which many of its components are located.

Although many manufacturers are developing increasingly thin or thin televisions, with minimalist and borderless designs that almost disappear when hung on the wall or placed on a piece of furniture, all these televisions always require at least one cable to transmit data ( not counting the power cord that goes to the outlet). Some models locate their ports on the sides, others instead use a “box” that serves as a control center, and one or two cables come out of it to the screen.

With that in mind, we can understand what LG means by saying that its new Signature OLED M is “wireless”. The TV works through a “box” called LG Zero Connect, with the difference that it does not connect to the TV via a cable. No, it can simply be placed at a safe distance from the screen (maximum 10 meters) and the box will wirelessly transmit all the content we are viewing. The box will take care of receiving the cable connection, consoles, sound bars and everything else.

According to LG, the transmission is infallible and is not done through WiFi but through proprietary technology from the South Korean company. The television is 97 inches, and has 4K resolution and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz.

Of course, the box takes care of everything related to the content, image, and audio that we will see on the television, but even so, the screen needs to be plugged into an outlet, so at least one cable has to be used, the power cable. It is a very interesting technology that we will surely see in more models of the company over time. The Signature OLED M would hit the market during the third or fourth quarter of 2023, but for now it’s priceless, just don’t expect it to be cheap.
