Two Argentines died in a violent accident in Punta del Este

A fatal accident shocks Punta del Este. Two Argentines died today in a head-on collision on Route 104, five kilometers from Atchugarry Museum (MACA). According to It was reported this followingnoon, there were seven injuries and there would be more Argentines involved in the incident.

As confirmed by sources close to the consulate, the fatalities are two Argentine women, although at the moment the identity of the deceased has not been established.

The event occurred this noon at kilometer 101, a few meters from reaching the roundregarding on route 104, in Manantiales. According to official sources, at the moment the injured are seven people, of which two had to be transferred to a health center.

As reported, it is Melanie Labaururu, 27-year-old Argentine, who had to be transferred to the Cantegrill Sanatorium. The other wounded is Nicolás Rocas, also from Argentina, with polytrauma and blunt abdominal trauma, who was referred to the same health center.

While the rest of the injured are: Juan Pablo Sentero, a Uruguayan national, diagnosed with mild trauma; Nazarena Sierra, Uruguayan, also with mild trauma; Melina Antun, Uruguayan, with minor lower limb trauma and Luciano Strassera, with minor trauma.

The crash occurred in a focus where a large amount of traffic is usually concentrated and through which Jose Ignacio, La Barra, Manantiales and El Chorro are accessed. Firefighters and police are working on the scene.

According to The country of Uruguay, following the accident several fire departments from the city of San Carlos and Barra de Maldonado arrived at the scene to rescue the people who were trapped between the vehicles.

According to the local media, nine people were involved in the accident. Two women died and two others managed to be rescued by firefighters.

In total, four women were traveling in one of the vehicles, while the remaining five people who were in the other car managed to get out by their own means. The news confirmed by THE NATIONcomes at a time when the Uruguayan city registers a record number of Argentines.
