Jeremy Renner seriously injured in snowplow accident

(CNN) — Actor Jeremy Renner is hospitalized in “critical but stable condition” following being injured in a snowplow incident in Nevada, his rep confirmed to CNN.

“At this time, we can confirm that Jeremy is in critical but stable condition with injuries following a weather-related accident while shoveling snow today,” Sam Mast told CNN in a statement.

“His family is with him and he is receiving excellent care,” he added.

Hours later, Renner underwent additional surgery for the injuries he sustained, a source close to the actor told CNN, without elaborating.

This is Renner’s second surgery following he was airlifted from the crash site to a hospital in Reno, Nevada, on Sunday, the source said.

His family is expected to issue a statement Monday night, the source added.

According to a press release from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a “traumatic injury” in the Mt. Rose Highway area of ​​Reno, Nevada.

Upon arrival, officers coordinated with the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District and REMSA Health to arrange for Renner’s medical transport via care flight to a local area hospital, according to the statement.

The sheriff’s office did not provide details regarding the extent of Renner’s injuries or what may have caused the accident.

Renner was the only party involved in the incident, according to the statement.

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the circumstances of the incident.
