A motorist lost his life following a swerve that occurred in the early hours of the year in Percé, in Gaspésie.
The accident occurred around 3:30 a.m. when, for some unknown reason, the driver lost control of his vehicle on Route 132 in the L’Anse-à-Beaufils area.
The vehicle left the road and rolled over several times, said Béatrice d’Orsainville, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.
The driver, a man in his twenties, was transported to a hospital center, where his death might only be noted.
The SQ confirmed in the followingnoon that it was Alexandre Couture, 27, of Bridgeville, Nova Scotia.
No hypothesis was immediately put forward to explain this departure from the road. An investigation has been opened to try to find out more, while an autopsy is planned on the body of the victim.
Route 132 remained closed for part of the night to allow an accident scene reconstructionist to do his job. The road reopened around 7 a.m.
