Max Duggan was involved in four touchdowns for his team, the defense rose and the TCU Horned Frogs defeated the Michigan Wolverines 51-45 in the Fiesta Bowl on Saturday to earn their ticket to the National Championship final.
This is the highest score in Fiesta Bowl history. The score was 34-16 with three minutes left in the third quarter, but both teams weren’t done with the show.
The TCU defense stood out in this game with two touchdowns following interceptions.
Duggan finished the game with 225 yards and two touchdown passes and himself crossed the end zone on the ground twice for majors. He was, however, the victim of two interceptions.
Emari Demercado rushed for 150 yards and scored a touchdown. Quentin Johnston also distinguished himself as a receiver with a game of 163 yards and a touchdown. Taye Barber was Duggan’s other target for a major.
At the stroke of midnight for the New Year, Ohio State kicker Noah Ruggles missed his late field goal on 50 yards to formalize the Georgia Bulldogs’ 42-41 victory at the Peach Bowl. The latter will thus compete for the title at TCU on January 9th.
The Bulldogs reached the final with a late comeback. Buckeyes quarterback CJ Stroud seemed to have done enough in the final moments of the fourth quarter to get his team into Georgia territory. Ruggles, however, saw his kick miss on the left.
The Buckeyes quarterback shone in the loss with 348 yards and four touchdowns. He threw two to Marvin Harrison Jr. who finished the night with 106 yards.
Stetson Bennett had 398 yards for the Bulldogs and threw three touchdowns once morest one interception. Arian Smith had 129 yards and a touchdown.
