Record number of migrants crossed Channel to UK this year

More than 45,000 migrants illegally reached the English coast in 2022 by crossing the Channel in makeshift boats. A record number despite successive plans by the British governments to “fight” this. British Home Secretary Suella Braverman recently called the wave of migrants an “invasion”.
