‘Sanju Samson inspiration, there is no south for cricket, own stadium is the goal’- Sanju Samson | Cricket | Binish Kodiyeri

last year This is the year when Kerala stood with cricket and cricket stood with Kerala. Sanju Samson and his achievements in the Ranji Trophy can be attributed to him. KCA Joint Secretary Bineesh Kodiyeri shares his hopes for the New Year…

KCA Plan 2023

As the KCA Joint Secretary, I look forward to 2023. BCCI has announced Women’s IPL for 2023. We need to contribute more children to it. KCA has decided to give more importance to it. Along with this, the aim is to conduct more camps and tournaments for the junior category, under 14,16,19,25. More kids should be trained for high performance center. Because only if more children come from the junior category, children can be brought forward to the high category. In the last two years due to covid we have had to take children directly to under 16. This will cause problems for the children. The aim is to further professionalize the junior category of children as well.

Cricket has its own stadium in the new year

Apart from all the cricketing infrastructure projects, Kerala’s first ever cricket-only stadium is the goal of this year. Funds were allotted from BCCI. We are going through the process of acquiring the space. The construction of the stadium will be completed within 4 years following finding the land in collaboration with the government. Now there is no single stadium for cricket, multi stadiums are converted and used. That’s why more matches don’t come here. In the future, the aim is to upgrade it into a test stadium. Kerala is moving towards a big change.

Difference between South and North in cricket

Only 4 districts in Kerala do not have first class stadiums. The rest are in 10 districts. This was achieved as a part of the project carried out by KCA 10 years ago. As a part of that, stars are emerging from all districts compared to the past. Earlier there were more people from Malabar and especially from Talassery Kannur side and more stars. 3 people have already been given in the Ranji Trophy camp. South Kerala is not the same as North Kerala, but as a result of a development all over Kerala, so many stadiums came up, then the number of players increased, the competition increased, the quality increased, and with that the professionalism increased.

Kerala Cricket in 2022

This season we have gone ahead in every category. Be it 16, 19 category or Ranji, it is not a sudden achievement in one day, we have been able to implement the projects started by our predecessors slowly. That is the basis for our achievements last year.

Icon Sanju Samson

Sanju Samson is the icon of Kerala. After Sreesanth, we got the international player. He is the captain of Rajasthan Royals. Sanju is the star produced by KCA and he too has accepted it. Sanju is one of the best 5 players in Twenty20. It is hoped that Sanju will get a chance to play more ODI matches. Vishnu Vinod, Sachin Baby, Basit, Asif, Basil Thambi and Sandeep Warrier all came with Sanju as an icon. Sanju’s inspiration is what inspires others to play the IPL format.

Crisis in professionalizing cricket

Goals in cricket can never be achieved in one or two years. A five to ten year plan is required. Talents should be identified from the school level and training and facilities should be provided. It will create a bad situation if you don’t get another job because of coming to the sports field. It is necessary for the government to implement a new system to avoid such situations. The information received now is that the Kerala government is moving the schemes to focus the youth towards sports.

Celebrity Cricket League

There is no specific information regarding the current status of the Celebrity Cricket League. This year is believed to be the ninth season. Practice is going on. It will be led by stars including Chakochan, Saiju Kurup and Asif Ali. Being a part of KCA association, it is difficult for me to compete like before.

Some personal questions

Things related to father will make it difficult for me. 2022 is the year I lost my father. 2022 only has the angle of the year I don’t want to remember, the year without a father that made me who I am. Nothing good has happened in life and the biggest gap year is the year itself.

The future of cinema

KCA is the main task, the film is not done in haste, I am used to being a part of the films made by my friends and my surroundings. Two projects have been mentioned in 2023.
