The MASI closes the year down sharply

The Casablanca Stock Exchange closed the year 2022 down sharply, the index of all values, the Masi, losing 19.75% to 10,720.25 points (pts).

At the end of the 254 sessions this year, the Morocco Stock Index 20 (MSI 20), an index grouping the 20 most liquid stocks, dropped, for its part, 21.03% to 857.43 pts. For its part, the benchmark Environment, Social and Governance index “Casablanca ESG 10” fell by 19.34% to 805.04 pts.

The building and construction materials sector ended the year with a loss of 34.98%, followed by telecommunications (-31.88%) and Real estate participation & development (-27.15%).

On the other hand, the mining sector recorded the largest increase (+32.73%), followed by that of forestry and paper (+25.35%) and that of electricity (+4.57%). .

The overall volume of trade reached more than 57.67 billion dirhams (MMDH), including 32.27 billion dirhams made on the central market.

Attijariwafabank was the most active instrument of the month with 4.4 billion dirhams of transactions, followed by Managem with 3.2 billion dirhams and Itissalat Al-Maghrib with 3.1 billion dirhams.

With regard to market capitalization, it amounted to more than 561 billion dirhams at the end of the year 2022.

The biggest drops were recorded by BMCI (-45.22% to 354.40 DH), DOUJA PROM ADDOHA (-40.81%, to 6.28), Maghreb Oxygène (-39.42% to 244.75 DH), Eqdom (-37.68% at 850 DH) and Itissalat Al Maghrib (-31.88 at 95 DH).

The biggest increases were made by Managem (+61.15% to 2,530 DH), Balima (+ 50% to 165 DH), Oulmès (+48% to 1,554DH), Alliances (+40.65% to 52 DH ) and Timar (+30.53% at 180 DH).
