The man was traveling on the A1 motorway, in the Lille – Paris direction, on Saturday morning. During a speed check, the gendarmes of the Arras motorway platoon indeed checked it at 241 km / h (speed retained 228 km / h) at the level of Wancourt, as reported by the Voix du Nord.

A driver who was driving a Mercedes AMG C 63 and who was arrested by the military a little further, at a service station in Saint-Léger. The 28-year-old man came from Rotterdam and was traveling to Paris with his partner to celebrate the New Year.

Following this very high speeding, he had to pay a fine of 750 euros. His driving license was withheld by the gendarmes, in order to allow the prefectural authorities to issue an order prohibiting him from driving on French territory for several months. As for the car, it was immobilized and impounded for a period of seven days. After this time, the Mercedes can be recovered following paying the impound fees. The driver in a hurry is summoned to the court of Arras in March to be tried.

For the couple, the rest of the journey had to continue by train, the gendarmes having accompanied the two young people to the Arras station.
