King Mohammed VI sent a message of condolence and compassion to the family members of Edson Arantes do Nascimento, known as “Pelé”, who died Thursday at the age of 82. In this message, the Sovereign said he learned with deep sorrow the news of the death of the legend of Brazilian and international football, saying that with the passing of Pelé, Brazil and the world have lost one of the best and most talented soccer players.
Pele was loved and admired around the world and contributed to making football a symbol of peace, coexistence and understanding between different peoples and cultures, writes the King.
In this painful circumstance, the King expresses to the members of the family of the deceased and, through them, to his relatives and to all his friends and admirers, his deep condolences and his sincere feelings of compassion, emphasizing that the deceased had great esteem for Morocco, a country that keeps the memory of his visit in 1976 with his club “Santos FC”.
