Son of Stephen Marley, and grandson of the God of reggae Bob Marley, Jo Mersa was found on Tuesday in his car in Miami, the city where he resided.
Born in 1991 in Jamaica, he followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather in 2014, then aged 23, and released Comfortable, his first album in 2016.
It was his representative who confirmed his death to Rolling Stone magazine. The causes of his death, however, are not known. Jo Mersa M. leaves behind his wife and child, as well as his latest album Eternal, freshly released in 2021, where he talks regarding his childhood among musicians.
In an interview with the magazine Rolling Stonehe had mentioned his desire to make his own way in music.
« I belong to the new generation of Marleys but I’m still experimenting, my project is to do something new with my roots. »
As the name of his latest album suggests, a Marley is gone, but the Marley culture lives on forever.
