Lenovo would bet on the ThinkPad brand for a future Motorola smartphone

Lenovo wants to capitalize on its ThinkPad brand, which in the minds of many consumers is still attached to the idea of ​​very professional hardware. It is Motorola, another brand of the Chinese giant, which should benefit from it.

In 2005, Lenovo acquired its laptop and desktop computer business from IBM. An acquisition that also contained the ThinkPad brand, which the manufacturer continued to operate successfully. Despite the change of owner, the brand has remained strong and it is still attached (rightly or wrongly) to the idea of ​​devices for business with a high level of finish and security.

A ThinkPhone to go with your ThinkPad?

Lenovo would like to bet on this brand image for Motorola, which has also been in the hands of the group for a few years. At CES, which will open its doors next week, the mobile manufacturer might well unveil a new model called ThinkPhone! It would be a high-end oriented smartphone, equipped with a 6.6-inch OLED screen with a refresh rate of 144 frames per second and HDR10+ support.

Under the hood would be a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip with 8 to 12 GB of RAM. The storage would go up to 512 GB. On the back would take place a block of three cameras: one of 50 mpx, a second of 13 mpx ultra wide-angle, and a depth sensor of 2 mpx. For selfies, we would be entitled to a 32 mpx sensor.

Who says ThinkPad/Phone also says pro functions, it seems that Lenovo intends to integrate the ThinkPhone smartphone with ThinkPad computers in one way or another, but we will have to wait to know everything on the subject. This desire to capitalize on the ThinkPad brand for smartphones is not new. Lenovo has been offering the ThinkShield solution for data protection in Android devices for some time.
