Family drama in Vaudignies: residents testify, “The paramedics broke down the door and saw the lady lying down”

A man, his ex-girlfriend and two children died late Friday followingnoon in Vaudignies (Chièvres) following a family dispute. The man allegedly doused his ex-girlfriend with gasoline and burned him at his home, where she had been living since the beginning of December. The individual then fled by car with his two children. The vehicle caught fire.

The two children and the man were found charred in the passenger compartment. The mayor of Chièvres, Olivier Hartiel, confirmed the four deaths. The Mons-Tournai public prosecutor’s office has been notified. The judicial police and the laboratory descended on the scene. The circumstances and the reasons for the drama must be determined.

After the tragedyresidents testify. “My companion was treating our animals. He heard a big ‘Boom’ and he saw the car that had just exploded. He saw the flames go up”, one of them tells us. Another adds: “The paramedics broke down the door and saw the lady burned, but still living. And she said ‘He burned me with something’.

According to the first elements, it would be a family drama. A few hours earlier, the father reportedly sent a message of despair to some family members. “It was a blended family. The ex-husband dropped off the childrens”, underlines a resident. An instruction was opened by the head of the assassination following the death of four people late Friday followingnoon in Vaudignies (Chièvres), said the parquet floor of Mons-Tournai on Saturday. A psychological cell is offered to students who attend the same school as the two young victims.A white march has also been announced for next Sunday.
