The Galaxy Book 2 Go and Book 2 Pro 360 have everything of a classic laptop PC…well, almost. Ahead of CES 2023, Samsung formalizes two machines equipped with an ARM Qualcomm chip.
Upstream of CES 2023which will begin in a few days, Samsung unveils the Galaxy Book 2 GB. A laptop PC equipped with Windows 11 that runs on ARM. It is the second generation of portable PC designed in collaboration with Qualcomm.
A classic laptop at first glance
It has everything of a traditional laptop PC, the Galaxy Book 2 GB is 15.5 mm thick and 1.44 kg in weight, with a compact chassis, thin edges and a 14-inch IPS LCD screen in Full HD definition. It also adopts an adjustable hinge up to 180 degrees. Finally, it is presented as resistant, it has passed the Mil-STD-810H tests, a standard which guarantees use that is resistant to extreme temperatures, humidity, as well as shocks, vibrations and falls.
What we will remember from this laptop is above all the use of the Qualcomm processor Snapdragon 7c+ Gen 3a late 2021 chip. On paper, it’s a promising chip, with Wi-Fi 6E support, however it’s still very light to provide decent performance with Windows 11. We tested a Microsoft platform, the Dev Kit 2023equipped with a more high-end chip, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 SoC. We were disappointed with the overall performance of the machine, so we have our doubts regarding the performance of the Snapdragon 7c+ Gen 3 SoC. Galaxy Book 2 Go will be marketed in France exclusively on the Samsung website from January 20, 2023.
But, it is not the only product that has been announced, since the Galaxy Book 2 Pro 360 was announced in South Korea. We are not talking here regarding the Intel variant, already present in France, but regarding a new version equipped with a SoC Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 from Qualcomm. Technically, the two machines are very similar, however the ARM chip can boost autonomy: the Snapdragon machine is announced for up to 35 hours of video playback on a single charge, the Intel model caps at 21 hours.
