11 Guanajuato tourists die on the Nayarit highway; among them, 3 minors

At least 11 people, including 3 minors, died and others were injured following the bus overturn in which they were traveling on kilometer 41 of the Jala-Compostela highway, Nayarit.

The unit with at least 40 travelers, came from Rincón de Guayabitos beach, Compostela, and returned to León, Guanajuato; where the tour group came from before New Years.

Preliminary versions state that the truck driver lost control in a curve and although he tried to brake, he was unsuccessful and he fell into the ravine, approximately 10 meters down, where the truck was destroyed.

The Secretary of Public Security and Citizen Protection of Nayarit confirmed on social networks that maintain rescue actions of the remains and of the injured people:

Citizen Protection and Firefighters personnel, the State Police, municipal and federal authorities, are providing first aid and transfers to multiple people who were injured in the overturning of the passenger bus on the aforementioned highway.

The list with the names of the people who were injured, and the hospitals where they were taken, has not been released so far.

As to deceased persons, the Forensic Medical Service takes over.
