Limousine, restaurant and hotel: a homeless couple were able to forget the hard life of homelessness for a day and end the year in style.
Julie and Joël have been homeless for several years. On Friday, they had a dream day and were able to be pampered.
A limo picked them up at the homeless shelter so they might have a nice day. “I am really speechless, I did not expect this”, explained Julie Richard. On the schedule, hairdressing, lunch and dinner at the restaurant.
“They’ll go shopping, then they’ll have dinner at the Pavillon Noir, and they’ll sleep at the hotel,” confirmed Nancy Foster, general manager of Canadian Tire in La Baie.
The manager of the Canadian Tire in La Baie had raised $500 to pamper them, but the help of various partners made this day possible.
Homelessness is a cause that touches her, she wanted to give back. “Often we walk down the street and ignore them, but they are people like us. We should stop and talk to them, ask them how they are doing,” said the director.
They will not forget this experience, and want to raise awareness regarding homelessness, because this day was only a parenthesis in a much less cozy daily life.
