As expected, the ecological bonus is changing from January 1, 2023. However, there are a few surprises.
We expected changes in the ecological bonus for 2023, this has just been confirmed. As a reminder, the ecological bonus-malus system is a kind of tax method encouraging customers to move towards the purchase of a low-emission vehicle in return for a financial consideration. If, at the start, it might concern thermal and hybrid cars, today, this is no longer the case since it only concerns electric cars.
Reduction of the ecological bonus
From January 1, 2023, the ecological bonus is changing. If you buy an electric car, the acquisition cost of which is less than €47,000 and the mass less than 2.4 tonnes, the amount of aid can be up to 5,000 euros for the acquisition of a car and 6,000 euros for a van. These aid amounts are increased by 2,000 euros for households whose reference income per share is less than €14,089, i.e. a maximum aid of €7,000 for the purchase of a car and €8,000 for a van.

You will note the disappearance of the ecological bonus for vehicles whose acquisition cost is between €47,000 and €60,000, it was previously €2,000. While for plug-in hybrid vehicles, there is no more ecological bonus.
