The remake of a cult episode of Metal Gear Solid soon formalized?

In an interview, publisher Konami hinted that 2023 would be a year full of announcements. A teasing that maintains the rumour…

While information emerging from the Internet should always be taken with caution, some sources or rumors have proven to be reliable in the past. Especially with regard to Konami, rich in many licenses sometimes dormant for years. After having been the subject of numerous leaks, the resumption of the license Silent Hill had been forcefully staged by the Japanese publisher, multiplying project announcements for this expected return. Of course, the other flagship license that has remained on standby for years is that of the most popular stealth game: Metal Gear Solid.

Swallow snakes?

Since the departure of Hideo Kojima from Konami, now at the head of his own studio, the license Metal Gear is orphaned by its creator. And this was clearly felt, the saga having known only one episode since, Metal Gear Survive, the quality more than questionable. However, even without Kojima’s talents, Konami still holds the rights to all previous games. And the fashion for remakes might allow one of the best episodes of the series to reappear, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. A jewel of inventiveness and narration, which a technical and playful upgrade might sublimate.

A quest for redemption

In an interview with the magazine Famitsu, Noriaki Okamura, a developer from the Japanese publisher who has worked for Kojima for a long time, reveals that the year 2023 will be full of announcements. Without further details, his collaboration with the thought leader of Metal Gear, especially on certain episodes, might be a tangible sign of the next return of the cult license. In addition to announcements related to Silent Hill, Konami has only a thin catalog of titles compared to its most prosperous years. A remake of Metal Gear would restore a coat of arms that had been damaged by the fall of Pro Evolution Soccer and the shattering departure of its in-house genius.
