Midterms USA: Opponents of abortion lose referendums

The Americans cemented the right to abortion in three member states via referendums on Tuesday. Colorado lived up to its “Wild West” reputation by legalizing a mushroom hallucinogen.

After Kansas, supporters of abortion rights in Michigan are also rejoicing at the success at the ballot box.

The election of 435 members of parliament and 35 senators was the focus of the midterms – but they were by no means the only referendums on Tuesday. The US is also known for state substantive votes, and this year more than 130 of them were on the ballot nationwide. In addition, there were hundreds of local referenda in cities and communities.
