Wehr (D): Wehra area almost completely destroyed in a major fire

Several news scouts reported a large cloud of smoke in Wehr Raum Rheinfelden AG at around 11.15 a.m. on Friday followingnoon. According to initial findings, a fire broke out in an industrial building on the Wehra site near downtown Wehr (D).

The fire is said to be so strong that residents opposite the “South Courier” described as “fire hell”. Even their windows had already gotten hot. The newspaper further reports that explosions would shake the area. These were presumably caused by gas bottles. “It’s not yet possible to say what caused the fire,” said Matthias Albicker, from the German police press office. Several halls on the site were affected by the fire. Practically the entire industrial area was destroyed.

In the early followingnoon, the fire brigade tried to locate the source of the fire with a thermal imaging camera on a drone. “The extinguishing work is expected to continue into the evening,” Albicker continued.

Because of the heavy smoke development, residents near the Zelgschule and the sports field are therefore asked to keep their windows and doors closed. The fire brigade is currently putting out the fire. The area had to be cordoned off over a large area. According to the first measurements, however, no toxic substances escaped. Nothing is known regarding injuries either.
