sentenced within a year, he recovers thanks to a “miracle” treatment

A man who had less than a year to live has now been cured of cancer thanks to a trial in the UK of a new drug treatment.

It’s a miracle. A man who had less than a year to live has now been cured of cancer thanks to a UK trial of a new drug treatment, a great story relayed by The Mirror. Named Robert Glynn and aged 51, he suffered from severe shoulder pain which prevented him from sleeping. Worried, he therefore went to his general practitioner and underwent scans and blood tests. But nothing was revealed.

It wasn’t until August 2020 that his cancer was detected, by chance, when he contracted a gallbladder infection. As a reminder, bile duct cancer has few treatment options. Also, it was advanced and had spread to his adrenal gland.

“I jumped at the chance”

Faced with this situation, the doctors offered him the possibility of participating in a clinical trial of immunotherapy. “I jumped at the chance”, he explained with great gratitude. The treatment given was aimed at helping the immune system fight the cancer. It was mixed with chemotherapy. And then a miracle happened. The tumors shrunk until they completely disappeared. The surgeons found only dead tissue. “I feel very lucky”he added, expressing his gratitude.

Cholangiocarcinoma, or cancer of the bile ducts, is a rare and aggressive tumour. Around 2,000 people are affected each year in France, more men than women. As reminded by Lyon Civil Hospicesthe symptoms are often late and not very specific.
